Learn why closing the feedback loop is about more than following up with stakeholders one-on-one.
1. Stakeholders feel heard.
People often feel like they're sharing feedback into a void when there's no resolution or indication of progress. Letting your parents, students, or staff know in a collective resource (newsletter, webpage, email, etc) that you've taken in their feedback is the first step towards closing the feedback loop. It shows that you value their opinions and acknowledges the time they spent filling out the Pulse Check®. It can also reinforce to them that if they respond, you will see what they said.
2. Creates a culture of transparency.
Following Pulse Checks, you have the opportunity to keep your community up-to-date on action steps you're taking as a school or organization to address their needs. Some comments are one-off and can be handled as such. For comments that might be trending such as carline concerns or covid protocols, it can be helpful to share updates in a public space to keep the decision making process, and the decisions themselves, out in the open.
3. Creates a culture of trust.
Transparency can help lead to a deeper sense of trust. When people trust that decisions have been made after careful consideration and input, then they may be more bought in to the decision itself. It's especially helpful for others to know when a decision is being made in direct response to a Pulse Check.
4. Creates a culture of accountability.
By sharing routine updates on progress related towards specific initiatives, you are creating opportunities for your community to keep you accountable. Meanwhile, you have the opportunity to routinely remind your community that you want their input.
5. Clear stakeholder impact.
Over time, you'll be able to look back at different Bonus Questions™ your team asked that helped drive a decision or ways the sentiment question informed how you addressed a community concern. Having a clearer sense of the role your stakeholders play in your decision-making can help you articulate their impact back to them and to the public too.
